"This photo was made in Joshua Tree, California. The Mojave Desert is a beautiful but unforgiving place, especially in the summer, but for some reason, that is always when I find myself spending time there. The day I made this picture, I was driving around trying to beat the heat, and feeling kind of lonely after spending weeks alone on the road. I started following ravens around as something to occupy myself with. I don't own any long lenses so I just had to move slowly and try to get closer to them before they would eventually fly off. Ravens have always symbolized something mystical to me. They make me want to pay attention – they feel prophetic about something unknown about to come."
